What does Doula Support look like?

2 In-Depth Prenatal Visits
These visits allow us to get to know each other and discuss your preferences and plans for birth. We’ll unpack your desires, expectations, and most importantly: your questions!

Our visits are luxuriously spacious. We’ll plan for your birth but also for navigating postpartum, feeding, and more.

FAQ: Should my partner attend?
Yes! Partners are encouraged to attend prenatal visits. My role is to support both partners in welcoming their baby and I can do that best when we’ve had a chance to meet and talk. No need to prepare anything ahead of time, just be present and open to learning!

An Effective Birth Plan
At our prenatal visits we’ll talk through your values and choices. We’ll craft them into a clear, effective birth plan that communicates your preferences well. Creating this document helps you

get on the same page with your partner
learn your options with plenty of time to make decisions
share your desires in a way your medical team will understand - setting the stage for a positive experience

Ongoing Phone/Text/Email Support
As the weeks progress, you’ll think of questions you didn’t have at our visit. I encourage you to send them my way! I will explain things that are new to you and offer guidance and emotional support. Plus it’s nice to have a knowledgeable friend just a text away!

Customized Resources
Most couples don’t realize how many decisions there are to make during pregnancy! I’m ready with articles, videos, book recommendations, my own PDF handouts, and local referrals as needed.

Birth Support
Your 24 hour/day on-call support begins at 38 weeks. As your labor approaches we’ll be in close contact. I’ll be with you in person from active labor onward and I stay with you after baby is born to help protect your golden hour. With your permission, I’m also happy to take photos for you of this momentous time.

Support in the Early Weeks
After your birth you’ll have access to me for whatever you need. Some clients like to talk through their birth story, others have newborn care or breastfeeding questions. I’ll check in on you frequently in the early days/weeks to offer support and point you toward any resources you may need.
