Questions You May Have…

Who is this co-op for?
Children ages 1-5 from all families who either plan to or currently homeschool

Is there a cost to join?
There is no cost for membership. Field trips or specific activities may involve a cost to participate.

Is this a secular co-op?
Our co-op is secular and welcoming to all.

Our family is BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant, etc. Will we find a home in this co-op?
You are welcome here.

What if we join as future homeschoolers and then later end up going to school?
We know you’re operating in good faith. If someday you enroll your child in a physical school, we’ll be there to congratulate you on knowing what’s right for your family.

What if we’re still pretty mainstream and this is all new to us?
We’re honored you’d take a chance on something new with us.

Are dads welcome?
Heck yeah! All parents in your family are welcome here.

Are pets welcome?
Not at this time.

We have a new baby, can we bring them?
Yes. While the community is geared toward 1-5 year olds, you are welcome to bring younger siblings with you.

Do you run on a traditional school year schedule?
We run year round with occasional shorter breaks instead of one long break in the summer.

What is the plan for inclement weather?
We will do our best to remain outdoors in most weather. In the case of truly inclement weather, playgroup will move inside to the children’s room of a local library. This shift will be communicated in plenty of time.

How will communication happen?
Members will have access to a private Facebook group where we’ll share the most up to date information with you.

Who are Samantha and Amanda?
Samantha and Amanda are good friends and moms who live with their families in Nottingham and Deerfield respectively. They co-founded this co-op to create the rich and intentional community they dreamed of for their kids — and also for themselves — living life outside the traditional school system.

Is there an academic component?
Not currently. The purpose of this group is socialization, unstructured play, exposure to a variety of childhood experiences, and building a strong community. As our co-op develops, we plan to include a wider range of age appropriate learning experiences.
